金美翎:俺们那噶都是东北人… 哎呀我的妈呀,我肚子饿死了饿死了,这附近有没有什么东北餐厅。咦?大东北餐馆!

“’We are all from the Northern region…’ Oh my, I am starving, and I want to eat Northern Chinese food so bad! Oh? Northern City?!”

 

这个位于芝加哥31街的大东北餐馆,自打开张以来生意一直就很火爆。地道的东北风味儿,选用上等食材,100多款的家乡菜肴,吸引了很多中外宾客。

Northern City is located on 31st Street in Bridgeport of Chicago. It has been popular since it was open. It has the authentic northern taste with the most original ingredients with more than 100 different dishes on the menu, it attracts many Chinese and American customers.

 

金美翎:大家都知道,咱们东北菜的特点就是量大、滋味浓郁,而且火候还足,这家大东北餐厅的菜呢,就是:一菜一味,百菜百味。

Many people say that Northern Chinese dishes are always very large in portions, rich in taste cooked with a huge fire on a wok. This restaurant’s motto is one dish, one taste; hundreds of dishes have hundreds of tastes.

王成海:“你说东北的特色菜,就比如说,我们的这个酸菜汆白肉,还有血豆腐汆白肉,或者是尖椒干豆腐,小鸡炖榛蘑呀,羊蝎子,孜然羊肉之类的,虽然都是一些家常菜,但是它们能呈现出我们东北人的口味和风味。在美国我也是第一个人把榛蘑带到美国来。榛蘑在我们东北来讲是纯野生的蘑菇,绝对不是人工才能够种植的。几千年的东北文化,榛蘑没有培植出来的,纯野生。在美国,东北人能懂,可能其它国家的人和南方人对这个榛蘑还不是很了解,因为它有一种特殊的风味,别的蘑菇是代替不了的。所以我这个小鸡炖榛蘑一直卖的很好,也得到很多客人的好评。”

Wang Cheng Hai, “Our featured Northern dishes such as Pork Belly Soup with Sour Cabbage, Pork Belly Soup with Pork Blood, Stir-fried Dried Tofu with chili, Stewed Chicken with Mushroom, Sautéed Lamb with Cumin flavor, I know they are all homemade style dishes, but they are the best from our Northern Chinese cuisine. In American, I am the first one bringing the wildness hazel-mushroom to America. They have to be wild; you just can’t get the good taste if the mushroom is growing artificially cultivated. In America, probably the people from the North part of China know about that fact. Therefore, my wildness hazel-mushroom dishes are always the best we sell here.”

 

 

金美翎:哎呀妈呀,你看咱们东北人这么热情,这老板一听说我今天一来,准备了这么多的丰盛饭菜。这一盘是锅包肉,这盘是炒地三鲜,这一锅呢是血豆腐汆白肉,而最后这一道呢是羊肉串。

虽然说呀,羊肉串是新疆的特色,但是我们东北人呀对这羊肉串儿还是情有独钟的,来,让我尝一尝。嗯,真的好美味哦!

Wow, look at this, Northern Chinese people are always so generous. The restaurant owner heard that I am coming today; he prepared so many dishes for me today.

 

This one is Sweet and Sour Slice Pork Cutlets, this one is Garden Vegetables, this pot dish is Pork Belly Soup with Pork Blood, and the last one is Lamb Skewers. Although the Lamb Skewer is a dish from the Xin Jiang province – we northern Chinese people have been cooking this as our traditional dish as well. Well, let me try this first. Yummy!

 

要说起我们东北最受欢迎的一道菜,我感觉呀,就是这道锅包肉,让我想起来小时候的味道。嗯~酸甜适口,外焦里嫩。

I think this Sweet and Sour Slice Pork Cutlets dish is the most popular one in the Northern China. This taste reminds me of my childhood in China. There is just enough sweet and sour sauce in it. Crispy on the outside but tender inside.

 

陈捷克:美国顾客占大概20%吧,主要是喜欢我们的面条。我们的面条,他们觉得很有特点,不像那种广东面条在外边买回来压过来,我们自己做的。

20% of our customers are Americans. They love our noodles. We make our own noodles, and we never buy noodles from factories.

 

还真就不是所有的美国顾客都是冲着面条来的,这位美女吃得津津有味,看看她对这家店的美食有什么评价?

Not all the American customers are here for the noodles. This beautiful lady is really enjoying her food. What’s her comment on this restaurant?

 

Domenica Biondolillo:“To me, I love spicy food. So when they really enhance it with peppers and with the stir-fry chicken. So I think that to me is a good Chinese food.”

我喜欢吃辣口。这家店把辛辣的口味都体现在这炒鸡肉和青椒上了。对于我来说,这就是好吃的中国餐。
