据说呀，这是芝加哥时尚界史上规模最大的一次群拍。这呀，就是以蒸汽朋克为主题的杂志拍摄活动。

So far, this is the biggest steampunk photoshoot event in Chicago’s history.

 

Amie Hana: “We love steampunk, and this is a very special photoshoot. I didn’t expect to get so many people involved. I feel so fortunate. This is one of the very big photoshoots for steampunk. We have about 30 photographers and almost 40 models all together. Big big shoot, big team.”

Amie Hana: “我们都很喜欢蒸汽朋克，所以我就组织了这个非常特殊的群拍活动。我真的没想到这次会吸引这么多人来参与此次活动，因此我感到很幸运。这次活动规模很大。一共有30位摄影师加上将近40位模特参与活动。”

 

有人就会问了，什么叫蒸汽朋克？蒸汽Steam和朋克Punk结合在一起，是一种流行于20世纪80年代左右的科幻题材。顾名思义，蒸汽代表了各式各样的蒸汽机引擎，而朋克自然就代表了走非主流边缘化的尖端视觉艺术。

Someone will ask, “What is Steampunk?” It’s a sub-genre of science fiction that typical features steam-powered machinery rather than advanced technology. It may also incorporate fantasy, horror, and historical fiction styles. It has been popular since the late 80’s.

 

爱因斯坦曾经说过：“想象力比知识更重要。”而蒸汽朋克就是在建立工业科学的基础上，与超越现实为特定背景，扩增了人们的想象空间。

One famous quote by Albert Einstein, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” Actually, Steampunk is right on the path, it builds up imagination based on the science industry. It’s a creative fashion style.

 

蒸汽朋克时尚没有什么特定的标准，但往往将维多利亚时代风格和现代风格融合在一起。其中包括礼服、大礼帽、紧身胸衣、衬裙、大衣或军装。通常还包括一些工艺配饰，比如：齿轮、钟表、遮阳伞、护目镜、镭射枪等等。

Steampunk fashion doesn’t have a limitation, yet it always a combination of Victorian and modern styles. It includes corsets, gowns, suits, top hats, waistcoats, military garments, etc.

Usually the accessories are timepieces, parasols, goggles, ray guns, etc.

 

Bob Archer: “We can let our creative sides, myself, Catherine and Lisa, come out and show who we are. Show a little bit of our specialties; and our fur, vintage clothing, period styling, and new constructions, to create truly wearable, steampunk fashions that everybody can wear on the street. If you are a little daring, you can wear it out for dinner or a restaurant, and just have a really great time. So our steampunk styles are the styles you can wear today and any day, as a steampunk artist. ”

Bob Archer: “我和Catherine，还有Lisa很想在这次活动中展示一下我们的创意成果，用毛皮质料、复古风格来搭配更新潮的风格，从而一起打造出一套大家可以在日常穿的服装。如果胆子大一点，你也可以在出去吃饭的时候穿这些服饰。因此啊，你也不用怕我们的特色衣服会没有合适的时候穿。”

 

 

金美翎：“Settle down! You really think that’s me? I am just kidding! 你看那化妆师把我这脸画的，瞬间就变成亚洲朋克女汉子了。看起来啊，我们真得感谢那些幕后的工作人员们！这个活动是在今年5月4日举办的，做造型加上拍摄，长达13个小时。而在今年7月17日的晚上，我们再一次相聚，举办了我们的颁奖晚会。”

Meiling Jin, “冷静点吧！你真觉得那是我呀？哈哈！开个玩笑！Look! What a phenomenal job they did! Suddenly I became the ninja warrior for the shoot! This wouldn’t happen without the staff’s hard work! The photoshoot event was held on May 4^th, preparationwork plus shoot: 13 hours total. This past July 17^th, we had our reunion and held the award night at the Parliament of Chicago.”

 

JovieCalma, “I am JovieCalma from Wassup?! JovieCalma LIVE! Being in the steampunk photoshoot, last May 4^th, I had a chance to work with Meiling. I am so honored and humbled to be one of the celebrity models. It was awesome. It was an amazing experience. It is actually one of the best photoshoots I ever had, because it is totally different. It is a reflective showcase of all sides of me. Look at me and I would like to give a shout out to Q Phia for did my outfit, and Glam Kats for my makeup.”

JovieCalma: “我是Jovie综艺节目的主播。在去年5月4日的拍摄活动中，我有幸跟美翎一起合作拍摄，能成为其中一位小有名气的模特我感到非常荣幸。而这一次的拍摄活动真的非常与众不同，这也是我至今最棒的一次写真。我可以展示一个和平时不一样的自己。我的服装设计师是Q Phia, 我的化妆和发型师是Glam Kats。”

美翎：17日当晚的颁奖晚会人气爆满，光凭几位在芝加哥时尚圈有名望的评委就已经很给力了，而且晚会更吸引了众多的芝加哥时尚界精英。

Meiling: On the award night the banquet hall is occupied to capacity. Several of the judges are famous in the fashion industry in Chicago. Chicago’s fashion elite were in attendance to see the fashion life and meet Chicago’s top models.

 

Jeff Conway, “Events like this, that kind of put us out of our comfort zone, makes us wear these awesome outfits like what you are wearing, it makes us a little bit more of a trademark and statement for Chicago in fashion.”

Jeff Conway：“像这样的晚会活动清清楚楚地让我们看到了另类时尚。就像你们今天这样前卫的装扮，可以做为我们芝加哥时尚界的一个标志了。”

 

Mark Roscoe, “So when I came down to my final (decision) was the photograph that evokeda certain emotion, that’s how I made my decision, technically, obviously beautiful models, beautiful hair, beautiful makeup, it was very difficult. So it is really the image that really made me feel something inside. Hopefully we got it right. Everyone is the winner in this competition tonight. This is another model that we judged this evening.”

Mark Roscoe：“做为本活动的评委之一，我看中的是从图片中流露出的情感。当然，很明显，这么多的优秀作品，让我做最后的决定的确非常难。因此，这真的就取决于图片中想表达的内涵。今晚，每个人都是获奖者。这是我们要做评估的其中一位模特。”

 

VarshaaShivakumar,“The event has been an amazing experience to be able to go through, such a different type of style and work. It is an honor to be a part of all of this. ”

VarshaaShivakumar:“这种拍摄活动对于我来说真的是一种新的尝试，新的挑战。我很荣幸能够做为其中的一位模特。”

 

最后，获得最佳图像奖的摄影师是John Buckley，获得最佳化妆师的是Hannah Butz，最佳发型师是Cristina Hotca，最佳模特奖是Amanda Paris；最佳服装设计奖的冠军是Bob Archer，而最佳摄影奖的冠军呢，则是Mark Sërrano！

Shannon Ihrke, “The photos were amazing, I actually have never seen anything like it, so I thought it is very cool to do it. For the Amour Magazine, it is just so different. The photoshoot looks like a lot fun, I actually wish I had been there. It just looked so different from what we are normally seeing. That is a totally different kind of beautiful. So I think it is really different to show, that in so many different ways fashion and beauty can be seen, and this is one of them. ”

Shannon Ihrke, “这一次的拍摄活动真的是让我大开眼界，这是我以前从未见过的风格。这样风格迥异的写真给Amour时尚杂志添加了多元化的色彩。如果我能够亲自到现场去看拍摄就好了，感觉蛮有意思的。我觉得这一次大型蒸汽朋克的写真拍摄可以算是美和时尚的另一种诠释了。”
