The students of the Xilin Performing Arts Academy Dance Troupe went on to compete at the International Dance Challenge July 1st at the Harris Theater in Chicago. Two of the dance routines, “Flame of Youth” and “Red Chinese Knot”, received a National Level High Gold rating, and the “Pathway to Heaven” solo routine received the National Level Platinum rating. The students of the “Flame of Youth” were asked to perform again at the event finale for their outstanding showmanship.
The IDC dance competition was a great experience for dancers, teacher, and parents. The Xilin Youth Dance Troupe worked very well as a team. Our dancers had a chance to observe the dedication of the other dance companies by seeing firsthand the grace and beauty of other dance forms.
This event has taught our students many important life lessons as well:
Team spirit – Though we all came from different families and different backgrounds, a common bond was formed so that they worked together to make this whole event a success.
Collaboration – Working jointly with teachers and parents, they did their part to ensure a smooth transitions between transportation, make up, costumes, rehearsal, and stage time.
The success of this event came directly from the support of parents, teachers, and volunteers Xilin. Also, we want to recognize the intense dedication of our dance students to perfect their craft. You have all done so well! Congratulations!
